We tell the story of our 2015 London Marathon - an incredible day, with heroic runners, noisy cheerers...and a lot of bananas. (Don't ask.)

On Sunday 26th April 300 of our runners took part in the 35th Virgin Money London Marathon, including:

38 running for a loved one lost 45 running for a loved one saved 5 transplantees 5 bone marrow donors 8 stem cell donors 1 telephone box

We started the day by getting our post race party ready; there were A LOT of bananas, as well some very tired volunteers who had been up since 4am!

And here's what we've got waiting for all our hungry runners when they finish #TeamAN #LondonMarathon #nutrition

As our cheer points started to fill up with our very loud and tired people, we had word that a very special supporter had sent a message of good luck to our runners.

Good luck to all of the #TeamAN runners for the #londonmarathon on Sunday! Here's office dog Luther to cheer you on #VMLM15 A photo posted by Anthony Nolan (@anthonynolancharity) on

After we got over that excitement then came the important task of being as loud as possible for the runners going past our cheer point, and as this video demonstrates, we certainly know how to make a racket.

Our cheer points are always the loudest on the course! Go #TeamAN

People always tell us that our cheer points are the loudest on the course. We’ll take that.   We had a lot of amazing runners on our team including Olympic champion Chris Newton, who was not only the fastest #TeamAN runner, but the fastest celebrity runner of the entire marathon! Incidentally he thought our cheerers were pretty good too.

Not long after Chris finished, our very own Ian Pithouse stormed through the finish line with a time of 3hrs 09minutes, an incredibly impressive time, even more impressive is that he’s running the Edinburgh marathon at the end of May too. Go Ian!

Then they got to show off their medals, and get a professional photo they could remember the day with forever.

Did we mention each runner could get a well-deserved massage too?

There’s a story behind each one of our runners, and our supporters recognise that. The support on Facebook and Twitter is always really special.

The London Marathon is such an amazing event, and we’re so grateful to each one of our runners, volunteers, staff and supporters for making it a day to remember.
